Stuart Island Campout

We'll launch from San Jaun Island and head across the Spieden Channel to Stuart Island and our campsite at the state park deep in Reid Harbor.

Folks can pick from staying put and hiking the island or partaking in any of the days paddles. On the second day we'll circumnavigate Stuart, exploring all the little coves, pockets and outlying islands as well as Turn Point Lighthouse. On the third day we'll head out and check out Johns Island and maybe go all the way out to Flattop Island (because, well, it's there...) before the return journey on day four.

We can expect strong currents, swells, eddylines, boils and all sorts of fun and interesting water on this trip! Hopefully 15 different species of whales...

Trip Rating IV-B which means "Some exposed water, possible open-water crossings, moderate to strong currents, swells, moderate to strong sustained winds, moderate to difficult landings, possible surf. You must be able to brace automatically, to self-rescue confidently, and (preferably) to roll. You must be able to navigate using a chart and compass" and "Up to 5 hours and/or 10 nautical miles, with some sheltered landing spots for resting". Please be honest with your skill set before signing up. Conditions out here could always be bigger than this rating.
